Outreach in the Time of COVID-19: Matching the Patient Experience to Guided Intervention
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, health and behavioral healthcare providers are being called to respond to the increased need for services via telehealth, either by phone or via video conferencing. Responding to crises and suicide risk amongst clients and patients may look especially difference due to the need for many individuals to remain at home as much as possible in order to limit the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and preserve hospital resources. To address patient and client needs for support, Dr. Ursula Whiteside created the guidance document "Outreach in the Time of COVID-19: Matching the Patient Experience to Guided Intervention" as a tool to help practitioners provide "Virtual Support for Suicidal Thoughts, Depression, Anxiety Loneliness and Substance Cravings."
