The Zero Suicide Framework, a systems approach to suicide prevention within a health service, is being implemented across Australia and internationally, although there is limited published evidence for its effectiveness. This paper by Prof. Chris Stapelberg et al. describes the outcomes of a clinical Suicide Prevention Pathway, which was implemented at the Gold Coast Mental Health and Specialist Services in 2016 following the principles of the Zero Suicide Framework. Results demonstrate a reduction in repeated suicide attempts after an index attempt and a longer time to a subsequent attempt for those receiving multilevel care based on the Zero Suicide Framework.
