Care Transitions Best Practice: Involve the Family
This educational handout from the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention - and funded by Universal Health Services - provides information on how to involve appropriate natural supports (i.e., family and friends) in suicide care. Involving the family in suicide care, with appropriate consent, has been shown to improve outcomes by strengthening the connection to long-term support, improving expectations, and increasing the likelihood of engagement in outpatient care.
